How do I actually DRY my black, white, pinto beans to put in jars for gift-giving?

Growing these beans for the first time and am wondering how I caan preserve them as dried beans like you find in bags in the stores, and how long they will last as totally dried beans, so that I may giv them as gifts.  Will they need to go through a soaking method if they are dried and stored?  Many thanks~

No soaking method is for before cooking.............I let them dry on the plant..............then I took them off and took off the shells and put them into clean jars without the lid to  make sure they are dried out.........several months latter I put lids on.  I did them with lima beans.
