How long can you store basil pesto (chopped basil and olive oil) in the fridge.

I would rather not freeze the pesto.

It can go bad.....I keep the 3 day rule..............or freeze it in ice cube trays and take them out and bag them.  The ones from the store say 2 weeks on the label but they have preservation in it.  You can get very sick from botulinum, and the color might not even change and it could have bacteria.
