can thawed beef be refrozen?

Thawed beef stew but took out too much. I was thawed in the fridge for 24 hrs, never in a very warm environment.

I would strongly recommend against it.  Bacteria starts to grow during the thawing process.  Anytime you thaw meat, you should cook it--and THEN, you can safely freeze the cooked meat.

Next time you make stew, freeze it in single portions.  So 3 for dinner then 3 portions taken out.  I like vac pac machines, gets all the air out.  That is so important to keep the stew from getting icy.
