Take the lettuce and cut off a thin slice off the bottom .This will allow the lettuce to pick up the water . If you do this everytime the bottom of the lettuce turns a little brown .You can wet the lettuce and put it in a plastic grocery bag with no holes in the bottom , which some have .Then twist the bag to keep the moisture in and put it down in the bottom draw of your fridge .That lettuce will stay crispy crunchy until you use it all up . I have kept lettuce and romaine this way for over a month .
