Why won't my rice pudding get firm? It is very liquid! Portions were correct!

My rice pudding is very milky, yet the portions were correct!  Why won't it get firm?  How can I fix this batch?

It won't look fancy but put it in a big frying pan and put it on low and put it in and keep stirring and stirring.............don't walk away or it will burn.  It could be the rice not absording the liquid.  Make sure it is thick enough for you and then spread it out in a deep dish and let it cool.  Cover it.  Then when totally cool put it in the fridge.
