Can you freeze whole potatoes?

We do not eat potaoes every day.  So a 3 or 5 pound bag will usually spoil before we use all of them.  So I would like to know how to freeze a whole potato.

You can boil mash & freeze.....you could roast them.....while they are still warm scoop out the inside......mix whatever spices you like....grated sharp cheese, little bits of bacon dried parsley..........bake them again..............and let them cool off and freeze them on a tray.................then put them into freezer bags mark date & freeze.
