Can you freeze fresh scallops

Can't find frozen scallops in our area. Can buy fresh but prefer not to be time trapped. Can I freeze and then expect good quality when cooked?

You have to ask them if they were ever frozen before they put them in the case............If NEVER frozen, you can freeze them............BUT....if they were frozen & defrosted..........then you can cook & freeze.  We use vac pac.....it gets all the air out and then I just put the back into the refrigerator to defrost them and if you need to cook them and they are not defrosted....soak the vac pac in cold water to finish them.............I have a nice little easy recipe............I cut bacon in half....you could use turkey bacon if you like..... and wrap the half slice around the scallop and use a toothpick to secure it..........bake it in a medium oven until the bacon is cooked and you can make your own dip with ketsup and a little horseradish and a pinch of fresh lemon.........mix it well and refrigerate it.  When the scallops are ready, get out your fancy plate and line it with lettuce..if you like tomatoes cut them thin and put them 2 or 3 inches indented to created a 2nd level.....and put your dip in a little glass container in the middle and put the baked bacon/scallops around it.  If you like diffferent kinds of olives you can put them on the plate.
