If there are  bugs in your oxo cubes I would also check the rest of the groceries that were also stored in the same place. Bugs get into things that are not in proper storage containers. There are many inexpensive containers that can be used for storage ranging from plastic bags to hard plastic with tight fitting lids. You can also recycle things like coffee containers, for even more cost and environmentally effectiveness.

I also hope that you check all your cabinets.  They can spread.  Not to frighten you but to make you aware.  I brought home something that was in dog food..............and I stored it in a sealed container............but when I opened it.........I saw something moving..........hurried up and took the whole thing outside and into a sealed bag in the trash.  I put bay leaves in each shelf.  Bugs don't like them.  I clean the shelves with a vinegar water solution.........about 1/4 cup for gallon of water...........or 1 tablespoon in 1 gallon of water.

They only last until the expiration date.  You could freeze the new ones to keep them longer in a tight container.  Most things have a shelf life.
