It depends on the size of the Turkey. My sister bought her a 13 pound Turkey and I prefer a 25 pound "Butter Ball" Turkey. It's quite simple to de-thaw depending on the size. Keep it in the package and place it on a plate that structures the entire Turkey. For a Turkey on the small-ish side like my sisters you should place the plated turkey 2 days prior in the refidgerator. For a Turkey I have for my house I'm placing my 25 pounder on a plate and defrosting it 3 and a half days prior to marintaing and roasting. De frost it in the fridge~!

It will stay fresh in the fridge with the 3 day rule either way...
